  the international chocolate industry.\n\nBegun in 1994\, the event is sup
 ported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has previously been h
 eld in Paris\, New York\, Tokyo\, and Moscow.\n\n\n\n\nDo you know how the
  Salon du Chocolat came to be? Let’s tell you all about it!\n\n\n\n\n\n\
 n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n 	1994 – The creation of the concept\n\nIt al
 l started with a love story….\n\nSylvie Douce was running an event manag
 ement firm. The idea of creating a show based on chocolate suddenly came t
 o her and\, at a dinner in 1994\, she discussed her project with François
  Jeantet\, an architect and food critic. After all\, they shared the same 
 passion for chocolate! … “It’ll never work!“\, “What an idea?! 
 “\, “What? A Chocolate Show?”….\n\n 	1995 – The 1st Salon du C
 hocolat in Paris\n\nEven though others in the industry had their doubts\, 
 the couple decided to go ahead and inaugurate the 1st edition of the Salo
 n du Chocolat on 28 October 1995\, featuring 40 pioneering exhibitors at t
 he Eiffel Branly convention centre.\n\nIt was a resounding success\, with 
 40\,000 visitors! Today\, the Salon du Chocolat in Paris welcomes 110\,000
  visitors and 230 exhibitors from all over the world.\n\n 	1998 – How ab
 out New York?\n\nIn 1998\, the show headed to New York! Here\, too\, it wa
 s a great success.\n\nMajor television networks promoted the event and aud
 iences queued up over five blocks\, bringing the traffic in an entire Manh
 attan neighbourhood to a standstill!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
  	2000 – Next flight to Tokyo!\n\nAfter the United States\, the Salon h
 eaded for Asia\, a region with traditionally little interest in desserts a
 nd a relative newcomer to the wonder of chocolate.\n\nTokyo was the first 
 city to succumb to the charms of the chocolate show. In 2002\, the Salon d
 u Chocolat signed a historic partnership with the Isetan department store 
 chain and expanded into several major Japanese cities.\n\n 	Since 2005 –
  International conquest\n\nThe Show then set off to conquer the largest ci
 ties in France and abroad. \n\nBeijing\, Moscow\, Shanghai\, Cairo\, Salv
 ador de Bahia\, Lima\, Seoul\, Hong Kong\, Bologna\, Cologne\, Zurich\, Mo
 naco\, Brussels\, London\, Marseille\, Cannes\, Lyon\, Toulouse\, Bordeaux
 \, Lille\, Nantes….\n\nThe Salon du Chocolat has been held 237 times s
 ince its creation\, with some fifteen events held every year on four conti
