Who are we looking for?

The World Cocoa Farmers Organisation is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and dynamic Advocacy Manager for its program based in its office in Kumasi.

About WCFO

The World Cocoa Farmers Organization (WCFO) is an International Independent umbrella

organization for all cocoa farmers. WCFO is regarded as an apex body and has legalized its operations by securing a certificate of registration from the Registrar General Department. WCFO was set up to serve as a common advocacy platform that highlights issues affecting sustainable production and improved livelihoods of members.

Currently, in Ghana 24 farmer organisations are members of WCFO which represent about 64,000 individual members.

The ambition is to be an apex body serving member organizations through lobby & Advocacy and advisory services provision.

Description of Role

The advocacy manager will support the World Cocoa Farmers Organization in coordinating research, advocacy, and the development of proposals or position papers.

He/she will keep track of activities such as raising awareness and projecting the organization across various platforms, as well as organizing partnership and consultation meetings and workshops. He or she will write and present annual reports to WCFO stakeholders.

Profile of the Manager

Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications/journalism, law, public relation, Business Management, international development, Political Science, and Public Policy.

Experience: 2-5 years Relevant experience working with governmental institutions, non-governmental, international organizations, media institutions

Competences:

  • A good communicator; fluent in English both orally and written.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced office environment with a small staff.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to identify stakeholders to influence decision-makers.
  • Experience in policy & advocacy
  • Knowledge of computers and MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Managerial competencies such as:
    • Ability to develop and manage relationships.
    • Ability to develop capacity and competencies of staff and to transfer skills.
    • Excellent networking skills
  • Works well under pressure, deals effectively with change and can work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
