Togo Cocoa Exporters Must Register For 2020/21 Season By Sept. 4

Companies in Togo that wish to participate in the marketing of coffee and cocoa during the 2020-2021 campaign have up to Friday, September 04, 2020, to complete the registration formalities.

The National Coordination Committee (CCFCC Togo) for coffee and cocoa disclosed this in a press release sighted by Togo First.

The committee listed a list of requirement for the qualification of any entity interested in participating in the process, including business registration certificates, a certified tax clearance certificate for the 2nd quarter of the year and receipt for the payment of the approved registration fee.

Other required documents including regulatory clearance by the standards authority, as well as authorisation from the cocoa and coffee exporters council.

According to Togo First, in addition to these documents, it is so necessary for experienced companies to provide documentation to prove their track record.

Qualifying companies must be ready to accept regulator monitoring visits to their operational premises and also furnish the authorities with monthly records of their operations in terms of purchases, exports and stock of the commodities.

Unlike Ghana and Ivory Coast, Togo’s production of cocoa beans is relatively low, having fluctuated substantially in recent years.

However, watchers say there has been a steady growth and marginal increase in production from 1970 to 2019 with production peaking at 10,000 metric tonnes in 2019.
