Know Your Cocoa Foundation, organisers of the African Cocoa & Chocolate Expo (ACCE), says it intends to capitalise on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement to extend and expand cocoa consumption within the Africa continent.
According to the organisers of ACCE, globally, consumption events around cocoa focus largely on chocolate and invariably run in Europe or North America.
“Recent action on the global market by Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, the world’s two leading cocoa producers, has turned the spotlight on the need for a paradigm shift in how we support farmers and organise trade,” the Press Statement by ACCE added.
The 2021 virtual edition spanned from September 23 – 26 will be held over four days prior to the National Cocoa Day to be observed on the 1st October 2021 with Cocoa Post as the official media partner.
The African Cocoa & Chocolate Expo showcases innovations and achievements in the cocoa value chain, by bringing together industry leaders and creating opportunities for knowledge, networking, dialogue and fun.
The annual event, first held in the Ghanaian capital in 2019, seeks to give consumers, particularly cocoa and chocolate lovers, an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate this age-old crop which has for over a century played a very important role in Ghana’s existence.
The African Cocoa & Chocolate Expo organised by the Know Your Cocoa Foundation (KYCF) with support from the Ghana Export Promotion Centre (GEPA) also focuses on highlighting new opportunities for growth and innovation in the cocoa sector.
According to the Chief Executive of KYCF, Nana Aduna II, the vision is for the Expo to become Africa’s premier event for cocoa and chocolate thought leadership.
It is also meant to embrace all players in the cocoa value chain, right from the hard-working farmer to the highly valued consumer.
