The much-anticipated world chocolate exhibition, Salon du Chocolat 2023 is set to take place in Paris Porte de Versailles this year from 28th to 1st November, the organisers have announced.

The Salon du Chocolat in Paris since its creation in 1994 has proven to be is world’s largest event dedicated to chocolate and is ranked among the 14 reasons to go to Paris by Condé Nast Traveler, among the 10 best gourmet events by World Guide and among the 10 best Food Festivals by The Culture Trip.

The much-loved show brings together professional chocolate tasters, chocolatiers, chocolate aficionados, authors, and pastry chefs.

The organizers say they expect a little over 100,000 visitors to witness this year’s event as the 500 participants gather together on 20,000 sqm exclusively dedicated to chocolate and cocoa.

“Participants, including French and international chocolatiers, artisans, and manufacturers of chocolate, cocoa, ice cream, pastry, and confectionery, will display diverse products themed around chocolate, cocoa, and ice cream,” the organization indicated.

They will, however, be able to explore stands, sample and buy chocolate and attend special workshops and masterclasses with renowned chefs from around the world.

There will be live demonstrations from the top chefs which will be hosted by France’s most popular food blogger, Mercotte to moderate the show as top pastry chefs, young talents and famous chocolatiers perform amazing demonstrations, live at the Pastry Show.

Chocolate and fashion designers will dazzle visitors with fascinating masterpieces that go beyond the imagination.

There will also be a junior pastry show offering children and their families the chance to go on an adventure through the magical world of chocolate. This will include fun, educational tasting experiences.

In addition, there will be a series of lectures organized by the Symbole des Producteurs Paysans (Small Farmers Label).

The speakers will address the challenges and future of the cocoa industry. This includes the preservation of the Amazon rainforest through chocolate.

It also includes the challenges faced by small farmers and the essential role of cooperatives in managing cocoa bean fermentation.

These organisations are calling on chocolate enthusiasts to attend the 2023 Salon du Chocolat in Paris for an upgraded version of the previous sessions, promising to be fun and thrilling.

Background

The Salon du Chocolat came to be in 1994, thanks to Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet’s idea at a dinner party.

They wanted to create a trade show about chocolate for professionals and the public.

At that time they didn’t have a lot of connections in the chocolate industry, but decided to travel around the country and start building a network.

The maiden Salon du Chocolat came off in 1995 which saw some 20 chocolatiers participate in a successful show.

The next edition birthed a new exciting idea where organisers explored the concept of a fashion show entirely made out of chocolate.

The international chocolate exhibition has since successfully brought together famous chocolatiers and renowned fashion designers.

In 1998, the chocolate fashion show toured internationally for the first time, starting in NYC, followed by Tokyo in 2000, Moscow and Beijing in 2005, Brussels in 2010, and London in 2013, with Dubai and Seoul planned for next year.
