As part of its contribution to the fight against the COVID19 pandemic, Ecom Ghana, a licensed cocoa buying company, has presented 1.2 million units of medicated soap worth GH¢2.4 million to Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to be distributed to Ghanaian cocoa farmers through COCOBOD extension staff.
At a short ceremony at COCOBOD Head Office in Accra Thursday, Country Manager of Ecom Ghana, Muhammadu Muzzammil said, the company cannot sit unconcerned in such a difficult moment as the world battles the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID19), hence the support.
He was optimistic that using COCOBOD will ensure that the soap would reach farmers beyond those they (Ecom Ghana) work with.
The Chief Executive of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo, commended the company for the gesture noting that, government alone cannot fund efforts to fight the pandemic and it was only right for all to lend their utmost support.
Mr. Aidoo further promised the preparedness of COCOBOD in ensuring that the soap is distributed across the country to the cocoa farmers.
He said farmers must use the soap to wash their hands regularly to help stem the spread of this disease.
