Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI To Chair 2nd Ghana Cocoa Awards

A former Member of the Council of State and Presidential Adviser, Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, King of Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area (Assin Kushea) is confirmed to chair the second edition of Ghana Cocoa Awards, an industry networking and excellence recognition scheme.

Accepting the invitation to grace and chair the occasion, the respected traditional ruler extended a warm congratulatory message to the newly constituted Advisory and Awarding Board of the cocoa awards scheme.

His Majesty, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, who is also a Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, wished the Board of Ghana Cocoa Awards well in the noble endeavour to spot and shine the light on excellence and innovation within the cocoa value chain in Ghana.

Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, whose kingdom is famed for being the cleanest community in Ghana, is expected to share nuggets of his decades of leadership experience in both public and private service to humanity.

A man of many parts, and known in private life as Wellington Eshun Jonah, Nana is the Ghana National Tuberculosis (TB) Ambassador, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators & Management Consultants – Ghana, Chairman of Perseus Mining Ghana Limited – an Australian Public Quoted Company, Chairman of Ghacem Cement Foundation and Board Member of Ghacem Ghana Limited.

He is also the Chairman of Mobus Property Development, a former Board Chairman of Tema Development Corporation (TDC), Chairman of the University of Cape Coast Sam Jonah Endowment Fund, Board Member of Maxam Ghana Limited, Executive Chairman – Industrial & Engineering Services (Ghana) Limited, Chairman of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Advisory Board and Chairman of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

He has several awards to his credit both locally and internationally, with the most recent being an Honorary’ Doctorate Degree from the Ternopil State Economic University – Ukraine. He was named Traditional Ruler of the Year 2017 as well as appointed the Ghana National Sanitation Ambassador.

The 2nd edition of Ghana Cocoa Awards is slated for 14th November 2020 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra.

The 2020 edition celebrates the local cocoa sector’s resilience in the face of the COVID19 pandemic, especially the heroes, both individuals and corporate, who emerged in the thick of the crisis to offer humanitarian support.

Award categories cut across leadership, entrepreneurship, technology and innovation, artisanal cocoa value addition, agro-input, sustainability, internal marketing, processing, manufacturing, consumption promotion, among others.

The maiden edition of Ghana Cocoa Awards came off in November 2019 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel.

The Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Hon. Joseph Boahen Aidoo, emerged winner of the ultimate award, The Cocoa Personality of the Year. The COCOBOD boss also shared the Cocoa Farmer Income Sustainability Honorary Award with his Ivorian counterpart, Mr Yves Brahima Kone, the Director-General of Conseil du Café-Cacao.

Other recipients included a former president of Ghana, H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor for the Lifetime Achievement Honorary Award, Mrs Yaa Peprah Amekudzi of Cocoa Life Ghana (Mondelez International) winner of the Sustainability Personality of the year, Managing Director of Niche Cocoa Industry Ltd Mr Edmund Poku, winner of the Cocoa Entrepreneur of the year, and Mr Justice Baidoo of Joy News, the journalist of the year.

Nominations for the 2nd Ghana Cocoa Awards opened in mid-September and closed 23rd October 2020.
