Hajia Maria Adamu-Zibo Named Business Leader Of Year 2022

The Managing Director of Federated Commodities Company Limited (FEDCO), Hajia Maria Adamu-Zibo, has emerged as the Best Business Leader of the Year 2022 at the Fourth Edition of the Ghana Cocoa Dinner and Awards held in Accra.

The award is in recognition of her many years of hard work as the Managing Director of FEDCO and prioritising the well-being of the farmers as well as stakeholders in the cocoa value chain while contributing to the development of Ghana’s cocoa industry.

Under the leadership of Hajia Maria Adamu-Zibo, FEDCO, a wholly Ghanaian-owned business has climbed to the number 3 spot among Ghana’s leading licensed cocoa buying companies.

FEDCO was also adjudged the Indigenous LBC of the Year and Federated Logistics Ltd earned recognition as Haulage Company Of the Year.

The ceremony, themed ‘Decent Income For Sustainable Cocoa Production,’ witnessed some high-profile personalities in the cocoa industry earning awards on the night for their excellence in supporting Ghana’s cocoa sector.

The Ghana Cocoa Dinner awards board bestowed the Lifetime Achievement of the Year on Dr. Veronica Agartha Martinson, Former Executive Director [1979-1990] of the Cocoa Research Institute Ghana (CRIG) for her significant contribution to Ghana’s cocoa sector.

Country Lead of Mondelex International’s Cocoa Life Program, Yaa Peprah Amekudzi was inducted into the Ghana Cocoa Awards Hall of Fame for winning the Cocoa Sustainability Personality of the Year for three consecutive times.

Other Hall of Fame inductees included the Cocoa Life Program for the sustainability programme category, Niche Chocolate for the chocolate brand category, Kiteko Limited and Amp Logistics Limited, for the haulage and logistics categories, respectively.

The three 2021 national best cocoa farmer award winners of the year 2021 were also granted honorary recognition by the organisers.

They include Kwame Alex, the Most Promising Young Cocoa Farmer, Adwoa Sintim the Most Enterprising Female Cocoa Farmer and Nana Kwadwo Amoako the overall National Best Cocoa Farmer of the Year.

Bia West Cocoa Cooperative was adjudged the cocoa farmer cooperative of the year, whereas a Non-Governmental Organisation, Tropenbos Ghana, won the Change Agent of the Year award.

Journalist of the Year was awarded to Ibrahim Abubakar of TV3 News.
