Some previous recipients of Ghana Cocoa Awards are set to be inducted into the scheme’s prestigious Hall of Fame for their outstanding contribution to the cocoa industry.
The candidates are Mrs Yaa Peprah Amekudzi, the Ghana Country Lead of the Cocoa Life Program, AMP Logistics Ghana Limited, Kiteko Ghana Limited, the Niche Chocolate brand and Cocoa Life Program, a Mondelez International’s sustainability initiative.
Kojo Hayford, the Executive Director of Cocoa Post, organisers of the industry excellence reward scheme explained “Consistent with our objectives, personalities and organisations that win in specific categories for three consecutive years automatically qualify to be inducted into the Ghana Cocoa Awards (GCA) Hall of Fame.”
“We believe the consistent achievements by these personalities, organisations and brands amply affirm their leadership track record in the respective fields of endeavour within the Ghanaian cocoa industry value chain,” he added.
Mr Hayford further noted that all “GCA Hall of Fame inductees will receive a citation of honour at this year’s Ghana Cocoa Dinner slated for 11th November 2022 in Accra, after which they shall not be eligible to compete in those categories for a period of 2 years.”
All five candidates for the GCA Hall of Fame have since the inception of the Ghana Cocoa Awards initiative consecutively emerged winners in the respective categories.
The Awarding and Advisory Board of GCA has for 3years running voted to recognise Mondelez International’s Cocoa Life Program as the ‘Cocoa Sustainability Programme of the Year’.
The Ghana Country Lead of the Cocoa Life Program, Mrs Yaa Peprah Amekudzi, has in the last three years been voted ‘Sustainability Personality of the Year’.
Celebrated Ghanaian entrepreneur Edmund Poku‘s range of chocolate products under the Niche Chocolate brand has twice defended its maiden win in 2019 to ultimately make it into the Hall of Fame.
A Tema-based integrated logistics service provider, AMP Logistics Ghana Limited, has also over the period maintained its industry leadership as the ‘Logistics Company of the Year’, whereas the transport subsidiary of the ECOM Ghana Group, Kiteko Ghana Limited has from 2019 to 2021 been adjudged the Haulage Company of the Year.
As part of the special honour, all five inductees shall have their names inscribed in gold on the digital Hall of Fame page on the official website of Ghana Cocoa Awards.
